FSOMA Membership Committee
The FSOMA Membership Committee is dedicated to recruiting and retaining members while ensuring that member programs align with the needs of the membership. The committee oversees member communications, addresses issues affecting the membership, and reviews pending member applications. Through its mission, the committee aims to foster a supportive and engaged FSOMA community.
Committee Activities
The Membership Committee engages in various activities to support and enhance FSOMA’s membership base:
- Developing and Maintaining Member Benefits and Services
The committee works to create and sustain programs and benefits that increase membership rates. These efforts ensure that members derive value from their FSOMA affiliation. - Establishing and Maintaining Student Connections
Building strong relationships with students is a priority. The committee implements procedures to connect with and support students, fostering early engagement with FSOMA. - Mentoring and Supporting Members
The committee provides mentorship and resources to both new and established members, helping them navigate their professional journeys and thrive in their practices. - Business Help Desk
Offering a Business Help Desk is a critical service to assist members with professional challenges, providing practical advice and support for business success. - Recruiting Volunteers
The committee identifies and recruits new volunteers for FSOMA, ensuring they are matched with roles that align with their interests and skills. This approach fosters satisfaction and long-term involvement. - Member Outreach
Regular outreach is conducted to engage various member groups. This includes calling grace-period and lapsed members, welcoming new members, and connecting with newly licensed Acupuncture Physicians (APs). These efforts ensure members feel supported and valued. - Vetting New Members
The committee reviews new member applications monthly, ensuring all applicants meet FSOMA standards before presenting them to the Board of Directors (BOD) during meetings.
Committee Member Skills
To fulfill these responsibilities effectively, committee members should possess or be willing to develop the following skills:
- Marketing and Communication Skills
Members should have experience in or a desire to learn about marketing and effective communication strategies to attract and retain members. - Outreach and Engagement
A willingness to contact members via email or phone is essential. Building connections through personal outreach strengthens member relationships and enhances retention.
The FSOMA Membership Committee plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s future by fostering a thriving, engaged, and supportive community for all members.
